Kay describes her career and how she has moved from barrister to professor to becoming the first Chief AI Officer. Her trajectory through her education and what drives her. How her education gave her transferable skills – critical thinking, analysis and advocacy are skills for anything!

Kay’s advise for teaching critical thinking:

  • Don’t use AI! – or if you do, be aware that it makes mistakes and have student check that it is not making up the answer.
  • Read books rather than reading 10 minute intervals. Children need to develop the ability to read long texts in order to think critically and process complex arguments.

    Discusses legal regulations around the world and the different approaches that countries have taken.

Kay finishes with advise for people interested in working in the technology governance field.
